Best-Selling Cars in India – February 2025
Maruti Suzuki Fronx Claims the Top Spot!
The Indian automobile market witnessed a surprising shift in February 2025 as Maruti Suzuki Fronx emerged as the best-selling car in India, with 21,461 units sold! This compact SUV surpassed popular models like the Swift, Wagon R, and Baleno, proving its dominance in the highly competitive segment.
When combining the Fronx and its Toyota counterpart Taisor, the duo accounted for over 25,000 units, showing strong demand for subcompact SUVs. Furthermore, adding Baleno and Glanza sales takes the combined tally to over 45,000 units, almost matching Tata Motors’ total dispatches for the month!
Hyundai Creta Continues to Dominate the SUV Market
The Hyundai Creta, a consistent bestseller, retained its position as the top-selling mid-size SUV, registering 16,317 units in February 2025. It significantly outperformed competitors like the Grand Vitara, Seltos, and Kushaq, reaffirming its leadership in the segment.
Meanwhile, the Hyundai Venue also posted strong numbers with 10,125 units, making Hyundai one of the strongest contenders in India’s SUV market.
Tata and Mahindra’s Stand in the Top 25
Tata Motors continues to enjoy success, with Nexon (15,349 units) being the brand’s top performer. The Tata Punch, though still popular, saw a decline, recording 14,559 units (-21% YoY).
Mahindra, on the other hand, saw its Thar and XUV700 posting impressive YoY growth. The Thar’s sales jumped by 59%, while the XUV3XO saw an 86% rise, reflecting strong demand for Mahindra’s SUV lineup.
Toyota’s Limited Presence in the Top 25
Despite its expanding lineup, Toyota had just one model in the top 25 – the Innova Hycross (8,449 units). The brand has introduced multiple rebadged models (Taisor, Glanza, Hyryder, and Rumion), but their individual contributions remain limited compared to Maruti Suzuki’s volumes.
With its premium portfolio, including the Fortuner, Hilux, Camry, Vellfire, and Land Cruiser, Toyota’s overall sales seem to be stabilizing rather than expanding.
