Honda is reportedly preparing to expand its SUV lineup in India with three major upcoming models. These upcoming Honda suvs include an electric SUV, a hybrid SUV, and a 7-seater SUV. As the demand for SUVs grows, Honda aims to strengthen its presence in this segment. Here’s what to expect from these upcoming models.
1. Honda Elevate EV – Honda’s First Electric SUV
Honda will enter India’s EV market with the Elevate EV, expected to launch in 2026. This electric SUV will compete with Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti Suzuki eVitara, Mahindra BE.06, and Tata Curvv EV. Codenamed DG9D, the Elevate EV will use a modified version of the ICE platform.

As part of Honda’s ACE (Asian Compact Electric) project, this EV will feature a 40-50 kWh battery. It could deliver a driving range of over 400 km per charge. Production will take place at Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, which is being upgraded for EV manufacturing.
2. Honda’s New 7-Seater SUV
Honda is working on a new 7-seater SUV for India, expected to debut in 2027. Positioned above the Elevate, this SUV will be Honda’s first model based on the PF2 platform, designed for both EV and ICE powertrains.

The R&D teams in Japan and Thailand, with input from India, are leading its development. This SUV may use the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine from the Elevate and City, alongside a strong hybrid variant from the City e:HEV.
3. Honda ZR-V Hybrid – A New Hybrid SUV
The Honda ZR-V Hybrid may launch in India by late 2025 or early 2026, though official confirmation is pending. If introduced, it will be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). The ZR-V measures 4.56 meters in length with a 2,655 mm wheelbase.

Under the hood, the ZR-V Hybrid will feature a 2.0-liter petrol engine paired with a dual-motor hybrid system, generating 180 bhp. It will also come with an AWD system and an electric CVT gearbox. While a petrol-only variant exists in global markets, it may not be available in India.
Conclusion
With these three Honda’s upcoming suvs, Honda aims to expand its footprint in India’s competitive SUV market. The Elevate EV will mark Honda’s entry into the electric segment, while the new 7-seater SUV will cater to larger families. The ZR-V Hybrid, if launched, will offer a premium hybrid option. These models will help Honda strengthen its position in India’s growing SUV segment.
